5 Great Places in the UK to Celebrate Christmas

Dear friends,

The holidays will once again warm our souls, which have been immersed in the daily routine. Perhaps you have wondered where to go to feel the Christmas spirit to the fullest. We will give you 5 suggestions for a trip you could include in your plans! We have chosen them based on the popularity of the destinations and the impressions shared by those who have already been there.

Edinburgh, Scotland

The city is extremely picturesque with its old buildings and cobble streets. It looks very much like something taken out of a Harry Potter movie. It is most beautiful at the festive season, especially along the East and West Princes Street Gardens, where the Christmas fair is set up in mid-November every year. The traditional crafts and mulled wine with spices will set the mood. The specially illuminated Edinburgh Castle is particularly impressive.

Bath, Somerset

The city is listed by UNESCO in the World Heritage Treasury. It is famous for its peculiar buildings that served as holiday houses for the aristocracy and for its healing baths. Bath is particularly attractive when it is festooned with Christmas lights. In addition to seeing the remarkable Gothic-style Bath Abbey, you can go shopping or visit one of the cosy and festively decorated pubs for a glass of warm wine.

The Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio in Hertfordshire

The sequel about the little wizard has quickly become an English classic, and the set that the film studio has created for the visitors moves children and adults alike. Miracles do happen there at Christmas: life-size witches will flit over the lavish feast in the Great Hall, the Forbidden Forest will be hidden under the snow, and you can learn new details about the filming among other things.

Birmingham, England

The second largest English city hosts the largest Christmas market outside Germany and Austria‒the Frankfurt Christmas Market. Beer will be poured there, bratwursts will be sizzling, and there will be an ice rink next to the City Library. The voices of carol singers ring out here and there among the crowd and if you are lucky you might even come across Chris, the singing moose.

London, England

If you haven’t been to London at Christmas yet, it’s time! This year’s Winter Wonderland will be waiting for you in Hyde Park with a circus show and a Bavarian village. The city will have been transformed with the most lavish Christmas lights and will have the most ornate and enticing shops. Let’s not forget the must-see traditional Christmas British pantomime in the West End and the festive cruise on the Thames.

So, friends, have you made your choice yet, or will you stay home with your loved ones to enjoy the cosiness and home-cooked food?
